Vortex Razor

Its an old movie that has a plane that passes through a sort of whirlwind, and land at an airport, but there are no other people in the airport. Towards the end there are spherical creatures with sharp teeth and razor ....

The Langoliers

At a red eye flight to Boston from LA 10 people wake up to a shock. All passengers and crew members have disappeared. When they try to touch the ground, they do not make the connections. They landed the plane to discover that things have not changed. But it's like the world is dead. No one is there, the air is still, sound does not echo, the food is tasteless. And a distant sound is heard coming closer. A race of monstrous beings bent on their destruction is heading toward them, eating everything that moves.

I think you are talking about the Langoliers (1995) which is based on a story by Stephen King. It was part of two mini-series for television. They were not really so foreign. If you have not seen, I do not mean exactally what they were to avoid spoilers.
