Shaving Mug And Brush

I was wondering, once you're done with the shave and you still have the rest of the puck of soap in the cup, then I simply put aside and let the foam dry up? can I wash and clean the cup and just put the soap back in? Do I just put a cloth over it to prevent bacteria in the environment is wet?
