Nalgene Travel Bottles

Anyone have tips on how to get a Nalgene bottle of water really clean?? I washed with my hot water and soap several times but it still does not clean and he always has a natural smell. I've had for several years and has traveled around the world. And I never put anything in it except water. Maybe it's just time to get a new one!
