Beard Oil Is it acceptable to have a beard while working on an oil drilling ship? Looking for a job as an electrician on a ship drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico and I was wondering if the beard is acceptable on board. I know it is difficult to use a mask that is tite air with a beard. Has he or has worked aboard the ship who can answer my question? I worked in the oil industry in the electrical department of a plant oil and the quick answer is "no beard!". In general, requirements call for a small beard and mustache or goatee, so that the mask will make a tight face seal. No beards allowed. I have family members who work on oil platforms at sea and they are not allowed to have beards. No beards allowed. Policy varies from company regarding the whiskers, the Stingers, goatee, etc.. Might as well be resigned to having to shave it all. its ok with me Posted on June 18, 2010.
