Back Groomer

Back GroomerYour dog is exhausted when he returns from the groomer?

My dog is very calm when it comes to grooming and all day. I always take my appointment 9 am and for the rest of the day, it's just really lazy. At present it is 21h30 and it is already gone to bed on his own, probably for the night. It is not new to the grooming routine. There 1-1/2 / o.

I was wondering if it is not uncommon.

I am a professional groomer and I can not fully answer your question but I can speak from experience as much as dog owners who come to me have said ....

1) Many groomers 'do' a dog, from beginning to end in one go without breaks ... yes, your dog will be out of the shop within 1.5 to 2 hours, but exhausted
2) Groomers like I give a lot of dogs in the "case" (yes, they are fucking a fund in case you were wondering) and will take 3-4 hours before they are ready to go home .

There are advantages to both .... but having said that ... I have many owners tell me that their dogs used to resist going to the groomer who made them "do everything in 1 shot." They did not want to go back and would not exceed the threshold .... When they I went to \, the dogs would not leave exhausted, and they came back with tails waving .... That's what I want to see ....
This does not mean that all dogs appreciate my method ... Some just do not like to be treated at all ...
I have a very regular and loyal clientele, and they all tell me they think I'm beautiful with their dogs. They mnd wait an hour or two to recover because "Fido" is happy and leaves waving taiol and gladly return.
Take it for what it is worth. Sometimes they are simply exhausted, because it is not normal routine and that they find stressful.
Hope that helps.
And .. in response to a comment from someone else ... I do not calm any dog or drug ... I am not a VET ... if a dog needs a sedative to the toilet, I refer them to the vet ... I had to do a few times with dogs mega slut ... I can habdle almost ALL dog .. I have 2 dogs that turned to "the fear of my arms / legs / face "..... I suggested to the vet sedated.

I am a groomer and can give you a logical reason. Grooming is stressful for a dog. Think about it - you take the dog in the comfort of his home, putting it in a cage for a few hours, it gets all wet in the bathtub, he's around other dogs who are curious about him, dryers are noisy, it is it weird having people handle - I would be confused, scared and stressed too.

We try to make it as comfortable as possible for them - but this is a common thing.

If you're the dog is particularly stressed, there mobile groomers in your area who will come to your house? Could be useful in research.

EDIT: in response to the person who wrote above me - it is a common phenomenon, especially in private stores and veterinary offices. We did not ask - we do not accept dogs that we believe have been sedated before their appointment. It is interesting to examine to see if your groomer to sleep.

Yes, that's normal. My two Labradors are very lethargic after being taken to the track. Probably because all the stress between the barking of dogs from other, and do things he does not usually like to shave or to cut the nails. lethargic return home after going to the groomers is common in many dogs, there is nothing to fear! Make sure he gets more exercise to keep active, but not too much because it's going to wear!

Dogs can be stressed to the groomers ... It is very common for a dog to spend all their energy to the groomers concern, so when they return home they are exhausted ...

That said, I know some groomers give dogs a small amount of drugs Gro.
